Lately I find myself out gazing at stars
Hearing guitars like someone in love
Sometimes the things I do astound me
Mostly whenever you’re around me

Lately I seem to walk as though I have wings
And to sing like someone in love
Each time I look at you I’m light as a cloud
And feeling like someone in love

Sometimes the things I do astound me
Mostly whenever you’re around me

Lately I seem to walk as though I have wings
Run into things like someone in love
Each time I look at you I’m light as a cloud
And feeling like someone in love
Like someone in love
Like someone in love

Duncan and Leah

Do you believe in soulmates?  Leah found hers through a photograph… a mysterious man with a tattoo that spoke to her in her dreams.  Right then and there, she realized that she had found him… that they had found each other.    Duncan and Leah share a unique studio that contains wax pieces and motorcycle parts.  Duncan is also an artist, one who builds choppers and custom motorcycles.  In addition, he is a fantastic cook and nurturing father.

Leah Macdonald

I will be sharing a few posts recounting our memorable days spent with Leah Macdonald.  Leah has many roles.  She is an artist, photographer, teacher, wife and  mother.  To me and Jason, she is a friend and an example of artistic inspiration and intellectual freedom.  We took a trip to Leah’s home and studio in Philadelphia where we met her family, photographed each other and made sweet art.

A Day in Richmond with Matt and Kristen

Matt and Kristen are getting married in October at the historic Miller & Rhoads which houses  Hilton Garden Inn.  I’m so excited… it’s so beautiful inside, and Matt and Kristen are so cute and fun!  Jason and I spent an entire day with them hanging out and getting shots of them at a favorite coffee shop, Chimborazo Park, Main Street Station and St. John’s church where Patrick Henry orated the famous “Give me liberty, or give me death…” speech.

Hockensmith Family Studio Portraits

Jason and I remember meeting baby Layla for the first time at Artemis and Seth’s wedding last October in Tyson’s Corner.  I distinctly recall having to forcibly pull myself away from Layla from fear that I was taking too many pictures of her.  But…, I mean look at her.  Cute!! You just want to eat her up.  We were so thrilled to hear from the Hockensmith family.  We had actually scheduled a studio session in late December, but it was the weekend of the great snow.  The awesome two footer that had us trapped inside our home for 4 days.  Last week we all got together and had a little fun in house.  Mr. and Mrs. Hockensmith, if you ever need a babysitter, just call me.

Anne

I met Anne and her family through my good friends Sara and Todd at their wedding two years ago.

This is Sara and Todd.  Kissing. Sara used to babysit Anne when she was little and living in Big Stone Gap, VA.  I was delighted to shoot her senior portraits.  Anne was such a great sport about having her picture taken the day after flying home from London.  Her glee club was asked to perform at the Westminster Cathedral!  Slightly jet lagged, but in great spirits, we strolled around her neighborhood taking in the pretty day.  What a sweetheart she is!  Here are a few snapshots…
