One of the many things that Jason and I absolutely love about our job is getting to meet people and learning about all of the wonderful cultures and customs in our world. Our careers as wedding photographers started out in Washington DC, a hub of diversity and a magnitude of wedding culture inspiration. We have been fortunate to document so many weddings, each unique and special, and we love them all.
Artemis and Seth’s wedding was very unique, being that Artemis comes from a Iranian heritage and Seth is from Kentucky. Their wedding also took place inside Maggiano’s, a fine dining Italian restaurant located at the Tyson’s Galleria in Tyson’s Corner. Artemis’ father officiated their beautiful ceremony beside a traditional Persian wedding spread that Artemis and Seth sat behind. Their formal portraits were shot both inside the lobby and outside of the Ritz Carlton where the lovely couple stayed. Here are a few images from their fun and exciting weekend!

Sofreh Aghd – the wedding spread
The spread contains many items, all to symbolize different qualities that the couple would hope to bring into their new life together.
During the service and the readings, married female relatives of the couple hold over the couple’s head a white silky Ghand cloth. Two pieces of crystallized sugar called Kalleh Ghand shaped like cones are rubbed together, showering the couple with white powder. This symbolic act is meant to sweeten the couple’s life.
