Henry and Abigail’s Wedding – St. James – Falls Church, VA/DAR – Washington DC

320_27dec08ha1224a

Meet Abigail and Henry.  What a beautiful, fun and happy couple.  They were married on Saturday, December 27th at St. James Catholic church in Falls Church, VA.  After exchanging vows, rings and a passionate kiss, Henry and Abigail bolted out the doors with Jason sprinting after them trying to keep up.

Their reception was held at the magnificent DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) museum in Washington DC.  Very cool.  Cocktail hour was held inside the library and the rest of the evening took place inside the O’Byrne Gallery.

This was also the second time that Jason and I got to work with catering and event company, Elizabeth’s on L.  Their set ups have been so lavish, and their dishes mouth watering.  We look forward to working with them again very soon.

Henry and Abigail, best of luck to you both with your move to South Africa and to the rest of your future!

Cameron and Tuyen’s Wedding – Giac Hoang Buddhist Temple/Elizabeth’s on L – Washington DC

320_29nov08ct_1302a

Lovely couple Cameron and Tuyen were married on November 29th at the beautiful Giac Hoang Buddist Temple, and celebrated their reception at the elegant Elizabeth’s on L in Washington DC.

Before the ceremony, family and close friends gathered at the mother of the bride’s home in Alexandria, VA to receive blessings and gifts.  The bride and bridesmaid dresses were traditional Vietnamese silk gowns that were accented by the orchid bouquets they carried.  After the blessings and gift giving, the friends and guests who numbered around 50 briefly relaxed and enjoyed a gigantic spread of food.  One of the family members told me that she was up all night making around 500 eggrolls.  Jason and I helped ourselves to several eggrolls, Vietamese salad, a bit of a whole roasted pig, and of course, dessert.  Deliciousness.

After lunch, everyone arrived to the Buddhist temple for the formal celebration.  The Giac Hoang temple was one of the most beautiful temples that I have ever seen.  Bright and colorful, the outside boasted of fountains and lion sculptures.  Inside, prayer and blessings were announced by a monk.  Tuyen’s Aunt Lan translated most of the services.

The reception was later held at Elizabeth’s on L.  Jason and I were delighted to work with one of our favorite DJ’s, David Grimm.  He set the pace and mood for the evening.  Cameron and Tuyen (with her 5 inch heels) danced most of the night away with their guests.  Here are a few highlights of their memorable day.

The Powell Family – Staunton, VA

Jason and I spent an entire Sunday with Jeff, Melanie and Cameron at their home in Waynesboro.  Their dog Bailey joined in the fun as well!  Much of the focus was on Jeff and Melanie’s adorable son Cameron, whom they’ve adopted from Guatemala.  Cameron took an instant liking to Jason, pelting him with his favorite stuffed animals and toys!  I think the cutest moment was after our shoot when we all went out to dinner.  Cameron was so exhausted from all the day’s excitement that he could barely stay awake while eating.  We kept thinking that he was just going to pass out, but he ate his entire meal!

I also want to mention that Jeff is a phenomenal DJ.  He spins with another great friend of ours, DJ Ducktape.  Together they are the Duck Brothers, and I highly suggest you catch them when they are performing around town.

Our Austin Trip

Jay and I got to visit our good friends Todd and Sara and stay at their coolio crib in Austin in early November.   Sara had just found out that she had passed her BAR exam when we arrived, so celebration levels were a go.  We tried to pack in as much fun that we could possibly have in five days… shopping, food, music, and spending time with our good friends, their kitties Midge and Bella, and their new French Bulldog Lola!

I would just like to take a moment and mention the power of French Bulldogs.  These dogs are chick magnets.  Sara and I left Todd and Jason alone outside with Lola while we went inside a clothing boutique.  We came out five minutes later, and the guys were surrounded by women oohing and aahing at Lola.  And who could blame them?  Lola is a cutie patootie.  She is so cute and cuddly, that you can’t even get angry with her for anything.  Lola peed on my lap during a car ride and all I could do was laugh and hug her.

Austin is a magical place with the hottest chili and best ribs that I have ever had.  We got to see DJ Z-trip (Jason’s favorite DJ) perform at the Fun Fun Fun Fest and then experience the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema the day after.  I highly recommend the fried pickles.  Overall, our Austin trip was fantastic, and we can’t wait to return for another visit!
