Tim and Melissa are the latest and hottest in Airforce officer newlyweds. The rain held off for them so that they could enjoy a beautiful outdoor fall wedding on the grounds of King Family Vineyard. We had a great time spending the weekend with them and their families who converged from all across the US.

One of the many things that Jason and I absolutely love about our job is getting to meet people and learning about all of the wonderful cultures and customs in our world. Our careers as wedding photographers started out in Washington DC, a hub of diversity and a magnitude of wedding culture inspiration. We have been fortunate to document so many weddings, each unique and special, and we love them all.
Artemis and Seth’s wedding was very unique, being that Artemis comes from a Iranian heritage and Seth is from Kentucky. Their wedding also took place inside Maggiano’s, a fine dining Italian restaurant located at the Tyson’s Galleria in Tyson’s Corner. Artemis’ father officiated their beautiful ceremony beside a traditional Persian wedding spread that Artemis and Seth sat behind. Their formal portraits were shot both inside the lobby and outside of the Ritz Carlton where the lovely couple stayed. Here are a few images from their fun and exciting weekend!

Seth and Artemis see each other for the first time!

Sofreh Aghd – the wedding spread

The spread contains many items, all to symbolize different qualities that the couple would hope to bring into their new life together.

During the service and the readings, married female relatives of the couple hold over the couple’s head a white silky Ghand cloth. Two pieces of crystallized sugar called Kalleh Ghand shaped like cones are rubbed together, showering the couple with white powder. This symbolic act is meant to sweeten the couple’s life.

Capon Springs, WV is one of those places that you have to see and experience to believe. Tucked away in the foothills of the Alleghenies, Capon Springs Farm is a heavily wooded natural spring camp resort. It has a very casual, laid back and very campy atmosphere. Christie’s family has been vacationing there for years. Being that it was a favorite place to relax and enjoy each others company, it was only natural that Christie and Guy celebrate their wedding with their family and friends there. Jason and I got to share a cabin with some of the guests and our friend Rev. Claire Goodman who officiated the ceremony. Here are a few snapshots from that day.

I love Christie’s cowboy kicks!

Emily and Dan’s wedding took place on a beautiful family farm. We were graciously offered to occupy their guest cabin on the night of the rehearsal and wedding.

I love the accents of handpicked cotton.

Dan and Emily are such a sweet and beautiful couple.

Here are a few details….

This was the setting for the rehearsal dinner… isn’t it lovely?

I can’t believe that the forecast called for 100% chance of rain on the day of Emily and Ben’s wedding. It didn’t seem to bother them one bit, though! The bridesmaids were even adorned with cute rain boots! Congratulations Emily and Ben!

So here are a few snapshots of our trip to the Natural Bridge. This trip included Jason, our third photographer Rae, her hubby Brad and me. Our day was unfortunately ill-planned, because some of the sights that we were really excited about seeing (Dinosaur Kingdom, Haunted Monster Museum & Dark Maze) were closed due to new hours after Labor Day. Poo. What we did get to see was pretty cool, though. Foamhenge was definitely our favorite, trumping the Natural Bridge, one of the seven natural wonders of the world…. and to think that there is a functioning highway atop the bridge (hwy 11).
About to enter the Pink Cadillac Diner for lunch.

Jason swears that this was the best hotdog he’d ever eaten in his whole life.

My lunch consisted of brown gravy with a side of fried steak, potatoes and slaw.

This is me after eating lunch.

Rae points out that all of the egg dishes are crossed out.

I love how this replica was made by 1 crazy white dude and 4-5 Mexicans.

We are so thankful for Seth and Artemis suggesting Monticello for engagement portraits. I abashedly admit that after living in Charlottesville for nearly five years, Jason and I haven’t taken the time to visit some of the rich history that surrounds us. The day before the shoot, Jason and I, along with our third photographer Rae and her hubby, Brad, embarked on a small journey to Natural Bridge. We got to check out one of the seven natural wonders of the world along with Foamhenge and the caverns. I am quite impressed with our weekend enriched with history, sightseeing and campiness (i.e. Foamhenge). Look out for pics of our trip… more to come…
I am looking forward to this wedding. The entire ceremony and reception will be held at Maggiano’s in Tysons Corner in early October. Artemis’ dad will be officiating the ceremony in a traditional Iranian fashion. An entire day filled with diverse culture, fantastic food and fun promises to be a delight!

Jason photographed the wedding of Peggy’s sister, Betty Ann a few years ago at the University of Maryland Inn and Conference Center. This Halloween, Jason and I will be documenting Bob and Peggy’s wedding celebration at the very same location. Perhaps we will see a few guests in costume?? Even more exciting for us will be seeing family and friends again that we have grown a connection with from Mike and Betty Ann’s wedding.

David and Jennifer renewed their life long commitment to each other after ten years of marriage, the military and 3 beautiful children. This sweet and intimate celebration took place amongst their family and closest friends just a few weeks before David’s six month deployment overseas in the Gulf. Jason and I have nothing but respect for military families, who continually make the sacrifice of living apart from their deployed loved one(s), while maintaining life on the homefront.
