When I look back on Ahna and Sam’s wedding, many things come to mind. It was our first wedding shot with 35mm, I fell in love with Laura the flower girl, Sam and Ahna loved coffee, loved to dance, and the entire wedding sang the most enchanting song called HU (pronounced like hue) during their Eckankar ceremony. Ahna also put together the floral arrangements and table decorations that were just out of this world stunning. Countless laughs and hot chocolate. It was truly a perfect day.

Today I want to take a trip back a couple of years and show you all one of my favorite album designs by Jason. This is Rae and Brad, who were married at the Clifton Inn in Charlottesville on May 5, 2007. Rae, who is also our talented assistant photographer and friend, got ready with her bridesmaids in Clifton’s wine cellar. The cellar was dark with area lights, so this made for dramatic and moody lighting. It also rained heavily that day, so the lush foliage could not have been more beautiful. My favorite thing about this album; however, is the emotion that is evoked when I look at Rae. She was sooo happy! I still tear up every time I see this album.

Here are more fun pics in the park of John, Nicole, Bangkok and Bijan! These images were shot by Jason with his new Canon EOS 1V, utilizing Fuji Superia X-TRA 800 film.
Be sure to check back as we are shooting Sam and Ahna’s wedding on December 12th. We will be using 35mm film for most of the day. Thanks for stopping by!

When I woke up this morning and saw the latest post on The Bride’s Cafe, I felt such tremendous gratitude… thank you, Janie Medley for featuring us on your fabulous blog!
Over the holiday while Jason and I were visiting family in Pittsburgh, Rev. Claire Goodman of the Charlottesville Wedding Blog contacted me to let me know that she was featuring some of our work on her blog… thank you Claire, you are so good to us!
Being a wedding photographer for only a few years, I have met so many wonderful people in the wedding industry. I am eternally grateful for their friendship and love. Without their help, Jason and I would not be where we are today.
Thank you.

You may have remembered Jon and Lori’s beautiful Korean wedding that we photographed last year in May. Through Jon and Lori we met John and Nicole. Nicole was one of Lori’s bridesmaids. Jason and I got to spend the weekend with the four of them, along with John and Nicole’s doggies, Bangkok and Bijan. Bangkok is an adorable white Shih tzu, and Bijan is a Brussels Griffon (I want to get one so bad… Jason says maybe…). We took their family portraits at a park in Georgetown on a lovely fall morning. Keep a look out for more pics of them coming up in March when they come to visit Charlottesville for springtime portraits!

Four years ago, Jason photographed Bettie Ann’s wedding at the University of MD Inn and Conference Center. Turns out that Bettie Ann has a sister following in her footsteps. We had also photographed their cousin’s (Ashley +Ryan) wedding this past summer. It was so cool to see a lot of the same friendly faces along with making new friends. Jason and I feel like we are a part of another great family…

Tim and Melissa are the latest and hottest in Airforce officer newlyweds. The rain held off for them so that they could enjoy a beautiful outdoor fall wedding on the grounds of King Family Vineyard. We had a great time spending the weekend with them and their families who converged from all across the US.

One of the many things that Jason and I absolutely love about our job is getting to meet people and learning about all of the wonderful cultures and customs in our world. Our careers as wedding photographers started out in Washington DC, a hub of diversity and a magnitude of wedding culture inspiration. We have been fortunate to document so many weddings, each unique and special, and we love them all.
Artemis and Seth’s wedding was very unique, being that Artemis comes from a Iranian heritage and Seth is from Kentucky. Their wedding also took place inside Maggiano’s, a fine dining Italian restaurant located at the Tyson’s Galleria in Tyson’s Corner. Artemis’ father officiated their beautiful ceremony beside a traditional Persian wedding spread that Artemis and Seth sat behind. Their formal portraits were shot both inside the lobby and outside of the Ritz Carlton where the lovely couple stayed. Here are a few images from their fun and exciting weekend!

Sofreh Aghd – the wedding spread
The spread contains many items, all to symbolize different qualities that the couple would hope to bring into their new life together.
During the service and the readings, married female relatives of the couple hold over the couple’s head a white silky Ghand cloth. Two pieces of crystallized sugar called Kalleh Ghand shaped like cones are rubbed together, showering the couple with white powder. This symbolic act is meant to sweeten the couple’s life.

Capon Springs, WV is one of those places that you have to see and experience to believe. Tucked away in the foothills of the Alleghenies, Capon Springs Farm is a heavily wooded natural spring camp resort. It has a very casual, laid back and very campy atmosphere. Christie’s family has been vacationing there for years. Being that it was a favorite place to relax and enjoy each others company, it was only natural that Christie and Guy celebrate their wedding with their family and friends there. Jason and I got to share a cabin with some of the guests and our friend Rev. Claire Goodman who officiated the ceremony. Here are a few snapshots from that day.
I love Christie’s cowboy kicks!
